Computer Science, Morphogenesis and Variability From developing code to decoding development

Raquel is a reproductive biologist interested in how cells coordinate to make ovulation happen. She studied biochemistry before switching to developmental biology and she previously worked at GIMM in Portugal, where she studied inter-organ communication between the ovaries and the central nervous system.

Now, as a PhD student she is combining live imaging with computational image analysis to build the first dynamic cellular atlas of mouse ovulation. She enjoys working at the interface of biology and quantitative approaches and when she is not in the lab, you can probably find her taking photos or drawing around Marseille.
